AMMAN – On Monday, the
Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) reported that the number of participants in the ‘
Urdun Jannah’ tourism program increased by 117.3 percent in January 2024
compared to January 2023.

Based on the ministry’s data, the program had
over 19,200 participants in January, compared to 8,800 during January 2023,
representing an increase of more than 10,300 participants, Al-Ghad reported.
The most sought-after destination within the
program was
Aqaba, where the number of participants exceeded 12,600, compared
to only 414 participants during January of last year, an astonishing increase
of over 30 times. Participants heading to Aqaba constituted more than 66
percent of the total program participants.
Additionally, around 1,900 participants
explored the wonders of Wadi Rum during the past month, marking a 13.1 percent
increase compared to 2023
Approximately 1,800 participants embarked on
trips to Petra, showing a remarkable 50 percent increase.
Finally, the MoTA previously announced a
strategy and new tourist destinations to be included in the program. The goal
is to enhance and stimulate domestic tourism by providing diverse trips to
various destinations across the Kingdom. These trips are subsidized by the
ministry and the
Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), with costs exceeding 50 percent,
making them accessible to all citizens.
