AMMAN — Mayor of
Greater Mafraq Municipality, Nasser Al-Din
Ako Rsheidh, announced that dozens of cases of electricity theft have been
detected and seized by the municipality's staff, according to the Jordan News
Agency, Petra.

The illegal power usage was identified while installing and
maintaining lighting units in the municipality's regions.
Financial burdenRsheidh stated that these actions represent an illegal
assault on the municipality's lighting network and pose a financial burden on
its budget. He also emphasized that the theft of electricity poses a
"grave" danger on citizens' lives.
To combat this issue, Rsheidh announced the formation of an
ad hoc committee that will organize intensive campaigns to find any attacks on
the city's power network and take necessary measures against perpetrators.
He called on citizens and owners of commercial, industrial,
and agricultural businesses to avoid illegal power exploitation. The mayor also
emphasized that all necessary legal measures will be taken against grid
attackers.
Yousef Elimat, the head of the municipality's lighting
department, stressed that these violations cannot be committed by ordinary
citizens, but rather by skilled technical people with equipment.
He urged the city's people to report any cases of illegal
electricity usage to the relevant authorities.
