Driver robbed of JD6,500 on Irbid-Ajloun highway

AMMAN — A goods transport vehicle driver from Irbid claimed that he and his colleagues were robbed of JD6,500 by six people who chased them in two cars along the Irbid-Ajloun highway. He said the alleged culprits’ vehicles did not have any number plates, according to Al Ghad News.اضافة اعلان

In his testimony to police, the driver said that while he and his two colleagues were distributing materials in Ajloun, two cars chased after them along the road. He tried to out run them but at the end they forced him to stop.

He said that the six alleged culprits got out of their vehicles, one of them showed him an identification card that showed him to be from the Anti-Smuggling Unit. The man told the driver that they had received reports of the presence of drugs in the vehicle, and the men searched the vehicle. 

In the meantime, another of the six men brandished a weapon and stole a sum of money estimated at 6,500 dinars from the driver, the proceeds of what the driver and his colleagues sold on that day.

A security source said that the security services launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, and that cameras around the area were used to identify the individuals and their vehicles.
