Amman - Southern Military Region troops on Saturday shot down a drone used to smuggle in drugs on its western front, according to a military source at the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF).

"Border guard forces of the Southern Military Region, in coordination with military security services and the Anti-Narcotics Department, thwarted an attempt to smuggle in drugs, using a drone that tried to breach the border," it said.
Applying the rules of engagement after tracking the drone, border forces shot it down inside Jordanian territory, and the contraband seized was transferred to competent authorities, it added.
The source vowed that JAF is devoting its capabilities and resources to block narcotic substances from reaching the country and undermining national security.
