The participants pointed out that there are both civilian
and military uses for this type of aircraft, and the importance of cooperation
between the
private and public sector in this field, Al-Mamlaka reported.
Under the patronage of
HRH Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, the activities of the Artificial Intelligence in
Defense and Cybersecurity Technology Conference and Exhibition 2023 (AIDTSEC
2023) were launched on Monday, September 4, at the King Hussein Bin Talal
Convention Center in the Dead Sea region.
Private sector use and regulation
Ratib Abu al-Raghib, the Sales and Business Strategy
Director at "Goodby," stressed that "drones" are no longer
used solely in the military sector but also have other civilian applications,
such as in advertising, photography, and more.
He emphasized the importance of having regulations governing
the operation of "drones" because the matter is not only about
managing airspace but also involves post-service provision details.
Yousef Amoura, the CEO of a private company specializing in
"drone" aircraft, stated that these aircraft can be used for
surveying purposes in areas like solar energy farms or agricultural fields,
providing data to assist users in their work. They are also used for traffic
monitoring instead of traditional aircraft, in addition to other military
applications.
He explained that having the infrastructure ready for
operating these aircraft helps regulate the necessary airspace in an organized
manner.
