AMMAN — A drug smuggler was killed late Sunday by the
Jordanian border guards on the country’s eastern border with Syria.

According to an official military source, as stated in Petra
News, a group of smugglers had attempted to illegally cross the borders from
the Syrian territories into the Kingdom.
The official added that rapid reaction patrols were
dispatched and rules of engagement were applied.
After an intense search and inspection in the area,
officials had seized 133,000 captagon pills, a Kalashnikov automatic rifle and
quantities of ammunition.
The source stressed that the Jordanian Armed Forces is
determined to deal with infiltration and smuggling attempts that continue to
threaten national security, intimidating citizens, or destabilizing the
country.
