But the
remaining JD1.5 billion, about 19 percent, is paid through 27 million direct
cash movements, which means that most of the amount is collected
electronically, but most of the movements are done directly, he told a meeting
organized by the
Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) to discuss the impact
of electronic services on the ease of doing business.
Hanandeh said
his ministry is in charge of enabling the economic transformation of public and
private sector institutions and harness technology to provide better and faster
service.
The minister
told Petra that digital transformation in the Kingdom is incomplete, but will
continue along with technological advancement, as it will save the government
capital and operational expenses, but not additional revenue.
He pointed out
that the e-government infrastructure has saved 60 to 65 million dinars in
capital and operational expenses in the last five years.
Hanandeh said
the e-government process took 20 years to achieve, adding that e-complex
procedures posed a key challenge to digital transformation, and they must be
simplified to accelerate the transformation and enhance the government, and
decentralized service.
He explained
that after its upgrade, the Sanad application will include a wide range of
distinguished services on a single service platform, with the aim of activating
the digital identity, digital signature, and digital documents.
JBA President
Hamdi Tabbaa said information technology is a promising tool for various
economic activities, pointing to its key role in achieving sustainable growth,
especially in light of the global trend to switch to digital and adopt
artificial intelligence, which has become the pillar of any development of
economic structures.
He said
enhancing cybersecurity contributes to creating a safe and attractive
investment and business environment, calling for strenuous efforts to promote
Jordan’s image in this regard.
