In a statement published on its website, the commission
clarified that it would process all applications in accordance with the
regulations governing the sector's operations, according to a local media
outlet.
Improving competition
According to Ziyad Saaida, chairman of the Commission's
Board of Commissioners, this announcement reaffirms the government's policy of
fostering competition in the domestic oil market.
By licensing new marketing companies to distribute petroleum
products in the Kingdom, the government aims to align with the comprehensive
energy sector strategy and the restructuring plan of the oil sector.
This initiative aims to ensure the provision of safe,
stable, and sustainable services to the citizens.
Renewed licensesIn line with this commitment, the EMRC has recently renewed
the licenses of three existing companies involved in petroleum product
marketing, namely Jordan Petroleum Products Marketing Company, Jordan Modern
Oil Services and Fuels Company (Manaseer), and Total Energy Marketing Jordan.
According Saaida, these renewals grant them an additional
10-year period starting from May 1st of this year, enabling them to continue
their operations in the sector.
