The Eastern Military Region carried out a successful operation early this morning, Monday, on one of its fronts within its area of responsibility, leading to the foiling of an attempt to infiltrate and smuggle large quantities of drugs coming from Syrian territory.

A responsible source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces stated that Border Guard forces, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, tracked a group of smugglers attempting to illegally cross the border from Syria into Jordan through forward surveillance. Rapid response patrols were deployed, and engagement rules were applied, resulting in the injury of several smugglers while the others fled back into Syrian territory.
The source added that after intensifying search and inspection operations in the area, a large quantity of drugs was found, and the seized materials were handed over to the relevant authorities.
The source emphasized that the Jordanian Armed Forces will continue to utilize all their capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling operations in order to maintain the security and stability of the Kingdom.
