The Eastern Military Zone successfully thwarted two infiltration and drug smuggling attempts on its eastern border within its area of responsibility, on Friday evening.

A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army stated: "Border Guard Forces in the Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, managed to thwart an attempt to smuggle crystal methamphetamine using a drone, which attempted to cross the border." The source explained that the engagement rules were applied after the drone was detected and tracked, leading to its interception and the dropping of its cargo within Jordanian territory.
Additionally, the source confirmed that a smuggling attempt by three Syrian nationals, who tried to illegally cross into the Kingdom, was also thwarted. The individuals and seized items were transferred to the relevant authorities.
The source emphasized that the Jordanian Armed Forces will continue to utilize all their capabilities and resources to prevent all forms of infiltration and smuggling operations, in order to preserve the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
