The remainder of
Jordan’s schools have been provided with heaters that operate on fuel, and the
ministry began disbursing fuel subsidies to schools on November 15, the ministry’s
Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs Najwa Qubeilat said
on Tuesday.
Necessary
maintenance was carried out on schools before the start of the school year to
ensure a suitable learning environment for students, especially during the
winter season, Al-Mamlaka TV reported Qubeilat as saying.
The ministry has
submitted 98 bids since the beginning of the year, at a total cost of JD11.1
million, some of which have been accepted, with maintenance work performed on
about 660 schools, she said.
Currently, work
is underway to submit new bids worth JD4 million to carry out maintenance work
of all kinds in several schools, including the installation of some solar
systems to ensure adequate heating for schools, the secretary-general said.
The ministry continues
to assign its educational directors in the governorates to cooperate with
school administrators concerning school hours during depressions and difficult
weather conditions, with learning transferred to the ministry’s educational platforms
for schools that are disrupted due to weather conditions, she noted.
