AMMAN — The
Board of Commissioners of the
Independent Election Commission has approved the
final results of the 2022 elections for Jordan’s chambers of commerce,
according to Al-Mamlaka.

The board also approved the results for
representatives of commercial sectors.
Polls had opened at 8am on Saturday morning
and stayed open until 7pm. Vote counting began immediately after the polls closed,
in the presence of supervisory committees, campaign representatives, observers,
and journalists.
The Tajer List won an eight-seat majority for
the Amman Chamber of Commerce, and the Ataa list won a single seat, according
to preliminary results.
In Irbid, the Ahd List won seven seats, with
the remaining two seats going to the Mustaqbalin List.
The Nahda List won in Zarqa, according to
local election committee head Samer Al-Qatarneh.
The National List beat out independent
candidates Adnan Yunis and Fathi Khatir, who received 44 and 53 votes
respectively.
A single electoral list also took all the
seats in Mafraq.
The board of directions for Salt won by
default.
Fewer candidates ran in Southern Shouneh than
there were available seats. Under the bylaws of the chambers of commerce, the
board of directors will appoint representatives to fill the empty seats.
In Ramtha, candidates Thiab Abu Diya and
Muntasir Khuwayla tied at 226 votes. After the election committee drew lots,
Abu Diya won the seat.
