The Cabinet approved on Sunday the "Wholesale Markets System for Horticultural Products" for the Greater Amman Municipality for the year 2025. This system aims to organize wholesale markets for horticultural products within the jurisdiction of the Greater Amman Municipality.اضافة اعلان

The goal of this system is to address imbalances along the agricultural production chain from the producer (farmer) to the consumer. This will be done by governing the process and ensuring transparency, which guarantees a fair price for both farmers and consumers.

According to the system, a main electronic platform will be established by the Greater Amman Municipality, with sub-platforms for traders. These platforms will handle various processes, including contracts with farmers, also known as contract farming, where prices will be transparent to all parties, with a reasonable and logical profit margin.

This approach will positively impact the quality of agricultural products by categorizing them into first, second, and third-grade products. The fair price will reflect these classifications, benefiting every step in the supply chain, from farmer to trader and eventually to the consumer.

The system will also monitor the trading process and specify the fees that the municipality will collect for products offered in the market.

Additionally, the system allows for the issuance of instructions for online marketing of fresh agricultural products in the central market.

Several sessions have been held with local entities to define the requirements for building the electronic platform, which will be owned and operated by the Greater Amman Municipality. This platform will not only develop the marketing process but will also enhance agricultural value chains and support services such as grading, packaging, and post-harvest operations.

The Cabinet also approved the provision of electricity from the Rural Electrification Fund for the Al-Uneiza Agricultural Project, one of the royal initiatives in the southern Badia region, located in the village of Wadi Al-Uneiza in the Ma'an Governorate.

This project is part of a broader effort to create agricultural initiatives that contribute to the employment of local communities, improve their living standards, provide agricultural skills, and create permanent job opportunities for the region's residents.
