Isabel Santos, head of the delegation, stated
during a press conference that the dialogue with Jordan will be strengthened in
the coming years, emphasizing Jordan's key partnership with the
European Union in the region.
The continuous Israeli aggression on Gaza has
led to "real animosity" towards Israel among the people in the
region, according to the delegation.
The delegation emphasized the need to stop the
war, stating that the European Union is committed to achieving lasting peace
based on the two-state solution. At the same time acknowledging Jordan’s sole
custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem
Jordan was commended on its role in hosting
Palestinian and
Syrian refugees while initiating economic reforms, focusing on
economic modernization, public sector development, justice enhancement, and
democratic reforms.
During their visit to Jordan, the delegation
visited multiple UN-based refugee camps: a school run by
UNRWA east of Amman
and the Azraq refugee camp managed by the UN Refugee Agency. They witnessed the
camps’ growing resource shortages.
The European Parliament maintains an ongoing
dialogue with Jordan and other countries in the region to find a possible
solution for the situation in occupied Palestine, emphasizing the necessity for
all involved parties to sit down and reach peaceful agreements.
