Amman – The Central Bank of Jordan announced the agreement between banks operating in the Kingdom, the Jordanian Payment and Clearing Systems Company (JoPACC), and MadfooatCom Electronic Payments Company to exempt individuals from the fees on payments and bills for government services paid through the "E-Fawateercom" system, starting from January 13, 2025.اضافة اعلان

This exemption covers the service fees for all government entities whose budgets are included in the general state budget, such as the Civil Status and Passports Department, the Department of Land and Survey, the Ministry of Justice, the Social Security Corporation, public universities, the Armed Forces, and security agencies, as long as payments are made via electronic channels.

However, this exemption does not apply to agent fees if the payment is made in cash at an agent counter or through banks.

The Central Bank emphasized that this step supports the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision and its executive program (2023-2025), which include numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing digital transformation and the digital economy in the Kingdom, ultimately contributing to a better quality of life for citizens.

The Bank expressed its appreciation for the fruitful partnership between the banks and the "JoPACC" and "MadfooatCom" companies, which reflects the commitment of the financial and banking sector to support the Kingdom’s digital transformation goals.

The Central Bank endorsed this agreement, aligning it with its efforts to facilitate and support the transition to a cashless digital economy in Jordan, promote financial inclusion, and encourage the use of electronic channels for bill payments. This move will alleviate financial burdens on citizens and contribute to providing accessible and simplified digital financial services for all.

The Bank also expects that this initiative will positively impact all segments of society, urging citizens to make greater use of digital payment services, thus enhancing their inclusion in the financial system and saving time and effort in paying bills while reducing direct costs.

Additionally, the Central Bank anticipates that this step will boost the adoption of digital payment services, contributing to the gradual shift toward a cashless digital society, in line with the Economic Modernization Vision and its executive program.

It also aims to improve the efficiency of electronic collection for government services by increasing the anticipated use of the "E-Fawateercom" service, thus reducing reliance on traditional cash payments.
