AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates
Ayman Safadi, on Thursday, received his Luxembourgish counterpart Jean Asselborn.

During the meeting in Amman, the two top diplomats discussed the bilateral ties between the two countries, as well as, the latest developments in the Middle East region, namely, the Palestinian cause.
In joint press statements, Safadi noted that the discussions focused on the Palestinian cause, stressing that the two sides back the two-state solution based on the international law as the only way to achieve just and comprehensive peace.
Safadi stressed the need to halt all the Israeli measures that undermine the two-state solution including building settlements and expanding them.
Asselborn said that Jordan and His Majesty King Abdullah have a key role in safeguarding the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He commended Jordan's role in hosting 2.3 million Palestinian refugees, in addition to 1.3 million Syrian refugees.
He affirmed that Luxembourg and the European Union are standing by Jordan to continue its pivotal role in the region.
