AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign
Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh
Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, discussed ways to enhance “historic
brotherly” relations, and reviewed a number of Arab and regional issues in a
meeting in the Qatari capital Doha on Sunday.

Speaking at the meeting, the two ministers affirmed
the continued work to increase joint cooperation and coordination in various
fields, in implementation of the will of both countries’ leaderships, according
to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Both officials also discussed steps towards
encouraging investment and boosting economic and commercial cooperation.
They agreed to increase contacts among the two
countries’ competent authorities and stakeholders to identify future
cooperation opportunities, and work to benefit from them.
The Palestinian
issue topped the regional aspect of their talks, as the two ministers said
there is no alternative to the two-state solution, as a way to achieve a just
and comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
In this regard, the two stressed the need to stop
all illegal Israeli measures that undermine peacemaking efforts and push
towards more aggravation, tension, and conflict.
Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the historic
Hashemite Custodianship over Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites, and
its role in protecting sanctities and its Arab, Islamic and Christian identity.
The two ministers also discussed efforts related to
resolving the crises in Syria, Libya, and Yemen, and a number of other issues.
Safadi congratulated his Qatari counterpart on the
“great” success and excellence achieved by Qatar in organizing the FIFA World
Cup 2022, as a “remarkable, historic” achievement for all Arabs.
The two ministers agreed to maintain joint
communication and coordination.
