AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister
of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi and US Deputy Assistant
Secretary for Assistance Coordination Chris Hodges on Monday discussed
Jordan-US strategic partnership and the two countries’ “common interest to
further enhance cooperation in various fields”, according to the Jordan News
Agency, Petra.

The meeting with the US State Department official
focused on a new memorandum of understanding the two countries will sign as a
framework for US aid to Jordan, which will replace the current memo that due to
expire in late September.
During the meeting, Safadi stressed the strong
friendship and partnership between the two countries, praising Washington’s
support for the Kingdom, which will bolster its development process and help
the country face economic and security challenges.
Hodges said Jordan is a strategic partner of the US,
stressing the deep relations between the two countries and pledging continued
US support to the Kingdom. He also commended Jordan’s efforts to achieve
security and stability in the region.
