He reiterated Jordan's
call to provide protection for the Palestinian people and stop the Israeli
attacks and violations in Jerusalem and aggression on
Gaza, a ministry statement
said.
Safadi held talks by
phone with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, during which the two
ministers affirmed their condemnation of the Israeli attacks and discussed
efforts made to forge an international position in support of the Palestinian
people.
Safadi also discussed
the drive in a call with the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and
Security Policy in the European Union Josep Borrell and the Cypriot Foreign
Minister Nikos Christodoulides.
In Washington, Safadi
met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Palestine and Israel Affairs Hadi
Amr to discuss the escalation in Jerusalem and the rest of the occupied
Palestinian territories.
The top diplomat
reiterated that the dangerous conditions in occupied Jerusalem and the rest of
the Palestinian territories clearly underline the impossibility of continuing
the status quo, and that the potential for the situation to explode at any time
unless there is a real effort and a clear horizon to end the occupation, meet
the rights of the Palestinians and achieve the two-state solution.
