In the lecture, Safadi spoke about the latest regional and
international developments, specifically regarding the Israeli occupation of
the Palestinian Territories and Jordan's efforts, recently exhibited through
the Aqaba meeting that convened Israeli, Palestinian, Jordanian, American, and
Egyptian officials.
During the Aqaba meeting, he explained, the parties
discussed the deterioration of the situation in the Palestinian Territories and
explored options for resuming negotiations based on the two-state solution,
which guarantees the establishment of a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem
as its capital on the June 4, 1967 lines.
"Jordan enjoys distinguished relations with world countries thanks to the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Kingdom's credibility, and the stability of its positions."
Halting the escalation in the occupied West Bank, he said,
requires putting an end to illegal Israeli actions. The minister thus
highlighted the need to tackle unilateral measures that undermine the two-state
solution and the chances of achieving peace.
He noted that foreign policy objectives led by His Majesty
King Abdullah aim to serve national interests and enhance regional security and
stability, adding that Jordan is respected internationally.
"Jordan enjoys distinguished relations with world
countries thanks to the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Kingdom's
credibility, and the stability of its positions," Safadi said.
