Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, the European Union and Spanish Cooperation José Manuel Albares affirmed today the common interest in increasing bilateral cooperation in various fields, deepening coordination on regional issues and efforts to resolve crises in the region.

During a telephone conversation with Al-Safadi, the two ministers discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the Sixth Regional Forum of Foreign Ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean, chaired by Jordan and the European Union, and hosted by Spain, to be held on the twenty-ninth of this month in Barcelona.
They also stressed the importance of the ministerial meeting, held in the afternoon of the same day, of the EU foreign ministers with their counterparts from the EU’s Southern Neighborhood partner countries within the framework of the EU-Southern Neighborhood Policy Document.
The two ministers agreed to hold the next round of political consultations between the Kingdom and Spain in Madrid’s capital. Al-Safadi congratulated his Spanish counterpart on assuming his duties as Minister of Foreign Affairs and expressed his aspiration to continue joint work and coordination to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.
