Safadi stated that the current events in
the region are a continuation of the ongoing decline in security, which is a
direct consequence of a loss of confidence in the peace process, according to
Ammon News.
Undermining the two-state solutionHighlighting the alarming state of
affairs, Safadi emphasized that the two-state solution, a cornerstone of the
peace process, is facing increasing threats on a daily basis.
He stressed that the continued erosion of
the two-state solution brings us dangerously close to its complete failure,
with dire implications for the region.
Speaking at a press conference following
a crucial meeting of the Munich Group, which included the foreign ministers of
Egypt, Germany, and France, Safadi underscored the indispensable link between
Palestinian and Israeli security.
He firmly stated that achieving true
security for Israel is contingent upon the Palestinians attaining their own
security. Safadi lamented the detrimental impact of the ongoing situation in
the Gaza Strip on the prospects of achieving a just and comprehensive peace.
He reaffirmed that peace and security are
fundamental rights for all parties involved and expressed deep concern about
the ramifications of current events on the long-term peace process.
Critical circumstancesAgainst the backdrop of critical and
challenging circumstances, Safadi acknowledged the tragic loss of innocent
lives, including Palestinian children and women, the destruction of homes, and
the threat to their future.
These developments serve as a poignant
reminder of the futility of the current approach in addressing the challenges
in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Safadi reiterated Jordan's unwavering
commitment to pursuing a just and lasting peace. He emphasized that Jordan will
persist in its efforts, working closely with its partners, to achieve a
comprehensive and fair resolution to the conflict.
In his concluding remarks, Safadi called
for an immediate end to the occupation and emphasized that measures undermining
the prospects of peace must cease.
