During the ceremony, Muhammad Miqdadi, Secretary-General of the Council, underscored the importance of enhancing the segment targeted by nurseries within Jordanian society, stating that the Child Rights Law fundamentally views investing in childhood as an investment in the nation's future.

"This achievement continues the national strides made in institutionalizing the nursery sector," Miqdadi remarked, highlighting recent milestones such as the issuance of the nursery system and guidelines by the Ministry of Social Development and the establishment of professional standards for nursery workers.

Miqdadi explained that the quality system for nurseries is part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to early childhood development, guided by the directives of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Her Majesty has consistently prioritized improving services for children to ensure their best interests are met.

He also noted the strategic partnership with the International Relief Committee, which began in 2019. This collaboration has yielded significant achievements in the care sector, including the training and qualification of over 265 young women in early childhood skills and nursery work across all governorates of the Kingdom. Additionally, five training halls and nursery laboratories (Innovation Labs) were supported and equipped at Vocational Training Corporation institutes, along with training of trainers (TOT) courses for 45 professional workers and partners in the childcare sector.

The quality system aims to extend its reach to the widest possible number of nurseries, including private, institutional, public, and home-based nurseries registered in Jordan, which total 1,152 facilities. These nurseries collectively serve approximately 37,000 to 40,000 children.

The implementation of this system is expected to enhance the knowledge and skills of around 4,600 caregivers within a national plan aligned with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision.

Magda Rossman, Deputy Program Director at the International Relief Committee, emphasized the significance of improving and supporting early childhood in Jordan. She noted that this shared goal with Jordanian institutions aims to foster the growth and development of children in safe, stable, and healthy environments, particularly in light of the challenges faced by children in Gaza and the aggressive actions of the Israeli occupation.

Rossman stressed the importance of the partnership with the National Council for Family Affairs and collaboration with the Jordanian government to address healthcare and nursery issues for children.

She highlighted that quality determination and accreditation are critical factors in guiding nurseries toward developmental goals, improving children's developmental skills, and enhancing the capabilities of nursery workers to provide superior services.

Salma Jaouni, CEO of the Health Institutions Accreditation Council, stated that focusing on health institutions and hospitals was a foundational step towards nurseries. This ensures their commitment to providing sound care services for children according to internationally derived standards that align with local goals of quality and safety, thus contributing to the development of children’s cognitive, linguistic, and social skills.

Haitham Zoubi, Project Director, highlighted that investing in childhood strengthens the role of parents in the labor market, enables children to achieve distinct roles in society, and enhances their educational attainment while reducing violence. He emphasized that the Jordanian culture was considered while building the care standards and the nursery quality system.
