In a speech at the Parliamentary
Dialogue Forum of African, Arab, Latin American, and Caribbean Senates and Similar
Councils in the Moroccan capital of
Rabat, Fayez urged enhanced coordination among
parliaments in these regions "to arrive at common denominators to engage
in international efforts to face crises posed to humanity as a whole".
He stressed the importance of
cooperation among the parliaments of African, Arab, Latin America and Caribbean
nations, and joint action to address the multiple challenges related to global
geopolitical changes, which lately grew as a result of the
COVID-19 pandemic.
"That made joint cooperation a
pivotal and strategic matter, and a key choice to promote dialogue and
solidarity to achieve sustainable development among our countries," he
said.
Fayez stressed the importance of the
forum in enhancing parliamentary diplomacy and finding new space for
cooperation, so that it becomes a platform for member countries to make their
positions heard by the
international community on various issues, especially
global peace, environment, sustainable development and climate change, as well
as promoting justice, law and human rights.
Over two days, the forum tackled
various issues related to sustainable development and cooperation among Arab,
African, Latin America and the Caribbean countries, empowerment of women and youth
as an issue at the core of development and investment policies, as well as the
economic situation in the pandemic.
