AMMAN — The security forces late Sunday
found the body of a man in his 30s who was swept away by flash floods while
driving his vehicle in the Shammia area of Aqaba, which has been experiencing heavy
rainfall.

Additionally, a shepherd's child was
reported missing in Zarqa due to the sudden and intense rainfall on Monday,
local media outlets reported.
Authorities respond
The governor mentioned that the civil
defense teams, along with the Hashemite Security Center and the assistance of
the Jerash Civil Defense, are currently present at the location to manage the
situation.
The governor of Zarqa confirmed that the
heavy rainfall in the Abu Al-Zeghan area of the Al-Hashimiyya district resulted
in the washing away of seven vehicles.
According to the Jordan News Agency,
Petra, Khaled Al-Hajaj, the governor of Aqaba, revealed that a search team had
been assembled overnight to locate the man who had been swept away by the
floods in the northern part of Aqaba.
Unfortunately, the team found the man's
lifeless body in the early hours of Monday morning.
Road closures and reopenings
Hajaj emphasized that the intense rain and
subsequent floods forced the temporary closure of several roads in the
Al-Qweira and Wadi Al-Yatam areas.
However, these routes were reopened after
a few hours, allowing traffic to resume. He reassured the public that all roads
in the governorate were currently open and no closures were in effect.
In light of these events, the governor
urged citizens and motorists to exercise extreme caution while using the roads,
advising them to steer clear of low-lying areas and riverbanks.
Furthermore, he emphasized the importance
of staying informed about weather updates and following the guidance provided
by the Meteorological Department to ensure personal safety.
