AMMAN — The
Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said that food prices worldwide surged
to record highs in February, according to Amman Net.

FAO’s report stated that food prices
worldwide jumped by 24.1 percent on an annual basis, led by vegetable oils and
dairy products.
The FAO Food Price Index, which
tracks the most traded food commodities in the world, averaged 140.7 points in
February, compared to 135.4 in January.
The report stated that the rise in
food prices contributed to the increase in inflation as economies are recovering
from the pandemic-induced crisis.
