NORTH SHOUNEH — The
Public Health Department of Moaz Bin Jabal Municipality, in cooperation with
the Environmental Police, destroyed Wednesday 210 kilograms of food unsuitable
for human consumption in the North Shouneh market, according to the Jordan News
Agency, Petra.

Ali Hawamdeh, the
administrator of the Northern Jordan Valley Brigade, and head of the
municipality committee, told Petra that the quantities of food destroyed
included 100 kilograms of mayonnaise from one restaurant. The rest of the
quantities seized were food items from stores. Two people were referred to the
judiciary by authorities in connection with these violations.
Over two days, Tuesday thru
Wednesday, health teams issued 14 health violations to food stores, juice
vendors, butcheries, and fishmongers for violating health and environmental
conditions. Five warnings were also issued to restaurants and bakeries.
Hawamdeh stressed that there can be no compromising over the
health of citizens, adding that health inspection visits will continue unabated.
He said that public hygiene campaigns would continue in all
areas of the municipality, calling on citizens to cooperate with the campaigns
by placing waste at the designated collection points.
