AMMAN — The director of the Family Directorate at the
Ministry of Social Development, Amal Al-Rihani, revealed that 4 cases of
elderly individuals in care homes have been referred to the judiciary following
legal complaints since the beginning of the current year, according to Saraya
News.

Among them is the elderly woman who
experienced a "fire" in one of the care homes, which attracted public
attention. She confirmed that these cases are still pending before the judiciary.
Regarding the supervision of care homes for
the elderly, Al-Rihani affirmed that most of these homes are equipped with
surveillance cameras, and relevant parties at the
ministry receive daily reports of any violations or incidents.
Statistically, Al-Rihani revealed that the
number of people in care homes until the end of September of the previous year
was 390, including 188 males and 202 females, with the ministry covering the
expenses of 141 of them.
In comparison, the number of people in care homes
for the elderly in the previous year was 400, including 199 males and 205
females, with the
ministry covering the expenses of 152 of them.
