For the second day in a row, the Interior Ministry warned of illegal gatherings, vowing to deal firmly with anyone who violates the law and community peace.

The police statement said the force "was still dealing with the rioters and did not allow them to violate the law, carry out acts of aggression and disrupt public life".

Local news reports said the protestors were supporters of MP Osama Al-Ajarmeh, who has been suspended by the Lower House for unacceptable conduct under the dome. He later tendered his resignation.

Late last month, the lawmaker's supporters responded to the suspension decision by blocking a highway in the area, prompting police to intervene to disperse the crowd, making arrests.
