AMMAN — On Sunday,
France's Ambassador to Jordan, Alexis Le Cour Grandmaison, said that the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is a
priority for France and stressed the importance of stopping settler violence in
the West Bank, Jordan News Agency, Petra reported.

During a meeting with the Jordanian-French
Friendship Committee of the Senate, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, Grandmaison
reiterated France's support for various UN resolutions proposed since the onset
of the war on Gaza.
The French ambassador reaffirmed his country's
ongoing financial assistance to
UNRWA and expressed gratitude for Jordan's
exceptional efforts in facilitating medical, relief, and humanitarian aid to
Gaza through airdrops.
Moreover, he emphasized Jordan's pivotal role as
a partner in France's development endeavors and collaborative initiatives to
foster regional peace and stability. He reiterated France's support for the
Hashemite custodianship of Jerusalem's Christian and Islamic holy sites,
stressing the imperative of their preservation.
Senator Murad opened the discussion by
underlining the urgent need for increased Arab and international efforts to swiftly
achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasized the crucial role of coordination
between the French and Jordanian Senates, and called upon all nations to
bolster support for UNRWA's humanitarian mission in Gaza.
Committee members echoed Murad's sentiments,
urging France to escalate assistance to Gaza's residents and leverage its
influence to end the war. As a permanent member of the Security Council, they
stressed France's pivotal role in addressing the Palestinian question and
advocating for an immediate cessation of settlement construction in the region.
