AMMAN — According to a report by the
French Embassy in Jordan, French businesses represents 6.2 percent of the total foreign direct
investment in Jordan, equivalent to $1.7 billion. They provide direct
employment opportunities for at least 3,500 people in the country, and on
average each French company employs about 250 people.

It was explained that 16,000 direct and indirect jobs were
created by
French companies, and 40 percent of French companies in Jordan have
a production site in Jordan, reported Al-Mamlaka TV.
Of the employees of these companies, 94 percent are
Jordanians, and 30 percent of them are women.
France is among the top five foreign countries investing in
Jordan, after the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom,
Kuwait and Bahrain
Types of investments
NGOs and environmental and community outreach make up 71
percent of French businesses in Jordan.
The volume of
investment for French companies in Jordan
annually is about JD100 million.
For more than 20 years, major French companies have had a
strong and long-term presence in the water sector in Jordan. Nearly one third
of French companies are involved in the water sector.
They played an important role in advancing water
infrastructure and services in Jordan, actively participating in prominent
projects and contributing their expertise during crucial stages from research
to implementation.
