The investments, amounting to
approximately $1.6 billion, have been allocated across various sectors and
fields, resulting in the creation of both direct and indirect job
opportunities, according to the envoy.
The meeting, chaired by Senator Issa Murad,
aimed to explore avenues for further enhancing the bilateral relations between
Jordan and France.
Strengthening historical ties and shared
interests
Murad, in his opening remarks,
highlighted the historical relations between Jordan and France, which were
fostered by the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah and French President
Emmanuel Macron.
He underscored the convergence of
political positions held by both nations on regional and international issues,
including counterterrorism, combatting drug trafficking, and ensuring security
and stability in the region.
Murad emphasized the need to augment
existing French investments in Jordan, particularly in sectors such as
education, economy, development, and communications.
Such measures would facilitate the
attraction of more French investors to Jordan and bolster the partnership
between the two countries, particularly in economic and parliamentary spheres.
Expanding cooperation
Senator Murad further highlighted the
existing bilateral agreements between Jordan and France, aimed at enhancing
collaboration in crucial areas such as energy, water, religious and historical
tourism, public transportation, technology, food security, and military cooperation.
He underscored Jordan's commitment to
maintaining security and stability and its favorable investment environment,
making it an attractive destination for French investors.
Expressing gratitude for the exceptional
level of relations between Jordan and France, Le Coeur Granmaison specifically
acknowledged the parliamentary ties between the Jordanian Senate and the French
Senate.
He also commended the mutual visits aimed
at strengthening bilateral relations in cultural, educational, and investment
domains. France, he affirmed, stands as a fundamental partner for Jordan,
offering support in its pursuit of peace and stability in the region.
The ambassador highlighted France's
backing of the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in
Jerusalem, as well as King Abdullah's efforts to seek a resolution to the
Arab-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution and international
legitimacy.
