The "Amman Listens" platform is an interactive digital tool that provides essential information, maps, and data for residents and visitors. It allows users to convey their ideas to municipal officials, facilitating service improvement based on feedback through artificial intelligence.

The project adopts a participatory approach focusing on citizen engagement to enhance Amman’s resilience and highlight its green and prosperous image. It aims to improve the quality of life for all residents and transform challenges into opportunities, enabling better crisis and emergency management.

The initiative received funding from Bloomberg Philanthropies as part of the Global Mayors Challenge 2021, in which Amman competed against 630 cities worldwide.

The launch, which coincided with the celebrations of the silver jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s accession to the throne, was patronized by the Mayor of Amman, Yousef Shawarbeh.

Shawarbeh stated that the platform's launch aligns with the municipality's policies of digital transformation and the employment of technology to serve the city and its residents. It is part of the municipality’s five-year strategy and the national plan for electronic transformation and localization of global Sustainable Development Goals.

He highlighted that the platform will facilitate fair and easy communication between the municipality and Amman's residents, especially during exceptional circumstances.

Majida Assaf, the UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Jordan, emphasized that the platform will promote social cohesion, inclusive communities, urban development, and present Amman as a green, environmentally friendly city. The project aims to place citizens at the forefront of development efforts and enhance municipal services and responsiveness.

Sultan Kharabsheh, the Executive Director of Information Technology at the Municipality, provided an overview of the platform, detailing its objectives, functionality, and role in transforming Amman into a smart city.
