The project is carried out with the support of the
German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and Federal
Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. It is in
cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation, according to
a GAM statement.
Shawarbeh was briefed from Director of Solid Waste
Management Sector in Jordan, Gabriel Yanikosky, about cooperation with GAM in
the current waste project separation project.
Shawarbeh was also told about the advantages of
using electric-powered vehicles to collect litter in Amman’s Madina area, and
its contribution to alleviating traffic crises, reducing fuel consumption
costs, and slashing emissions that contribute to climate change.
As part of the project’s second phase, GAM removed
90 percent of the metal containers, and installed 20 green devices to sorting
organic waste in the commercial area downtown Amman to transport vegetable and
fruit litter to serve the organic fertilizer project, the statement said.
Four electric vehicles will transfer organic litter,
and four others will deliver recyclable materials, then eight electric carts
will be used in alleyways to collect waste in large containers, to be later
sorted, treated, or sent to Ghabawi landfill.
