The municipality plans to install 25 umbrellas by
next week, while another 100 will be installed in mid-December, Rahamneh said.
This follows public complaints over the lack of
umbrellas along the bus route.
All high-traffic BRT routes will also be supported
by additional buses, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, the National Society for Consumer
Protection called on citizens to use the BRT and Amman Bus for their daily
commutes to save time, effort, and costs due to the growing traffic congestion
in the capital, Khaberni reported.
Society head Mohammad Obiedat said that winter
weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, have led to suffocating traffic,
especially at peak times, such as the start and end of the workday.
Car owners should consider using the BRT and Amman
Bus for their daily commutes, he said, suggesting that people who cannot use
the bus lines organize carpools.
The BRT and
Amman Bus have significantly reduced
traffic congestion and lowered commuting costs, which have risen with gasoline
prices.
