GAM uses German urban planning experience

AMMAN  — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) deputy city manager for public works Ahmad Al-Malkawi stressed the need to deploy new methods of sustainable urban planning and housing in Amman that are more effective and feasible to implement and provide the best services to the city’s residents.اضافة اعلان

At the conclusion of a joint workshop with a group of German experts for the Digital Cities Project, Malkawi underlined the importance of exchanging expertise and leveraging the German experience in updating a modern holistic plan for Amman that aligns with the development of the city’s modernity and transforms it into a smart city while preserving its originality and heritage.

The German experts met with the city’s deputy director for planning affairs Rama Al-Azza who briefed them on the Amman 2022–2026 strategic plan, as well as the holistic and urban planning, organization, acquisition and building licenses in Amman, and highlighted tasks of the planning sector departments and projects under implementation.

The GAM’s planning sector participants in the workshop presented working papers that included challenges of providing infrastructure, services, organization and public spaces, as well as a presentation on the systematic scheme for the development of the local community and projects under implementation in Amman.

Executive Director of Planning Mazen Al-Kurdi commended the assistance provided by the German side and stressed that the GAM enjoys expertise and competencies in urban planning.
