GCC-Jordan meeting: On strengthening regional cooperation

RIYADH – On Sunday, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi represented Jordan in a pivotal joint ministerial meeting convened at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) headquarters in Riyadh. This gathering, the sixth of its kind between the GCC countries and Jordan, aimed to bolster cooperation and foster collaboration across vital sectors through joint committees.اضافة اعلان

During the meeting, discussions spanned efforts to halt aggression against Gaza alongside addressing various regional and international issues of mutual interest. Ministers emphasized the shared commitment to fortifying strategic fraternal relations and achieving broader cooperation across diverse domains, underlining the importance of deepening coordination on everyday Arab and regional matters.

Safadi expressed gratitude to the Gulf Arab states for their steadfast support to Jordan, highlighting the meeting's significance in reinforcing historical strategic ties between Jordan and the GCC countries, particularly amidst challenging circumstances such as the ongoing Israeli war against Gaza.



"Today, we face the greatest challenge in our region—the ongoing Israeli aggression against Gaza," he stated. "We are all working to stop this aggression and ensure sufficient humanitarian aid reaches over 2.3 million Palestinians facing famine, according to estimates from UN organizations and others."

Furthermore, Safadi stressed, "The Palestinian cause is our central issue, and we will spare no effort in working towards ending this aggression and achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace. Such peace can only be realized when Palestinians obtain all their legitimate rights, including the right to a state and freedom on their national soil, based on the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital."

Safadi emphasized the need for active international action to halt the aggression in Gaza and cease Israel's illegal practices in the occupied West Bank, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. He concluded by expressing anticipation for collaborative efforts to enhance bilateral relations, end the aggression, and pave the way for a just and comprehensive peace, highlighting the unresolved conflict's hindrance to regional stability.



In his opening statement, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, underscored shared aspirations for fruitful outcomes in GCC-Jordan relations. He emphasized the region's collective efforts to urge the international community to address the Palestinian issue and achieve peace despite the conflict's far-reaching repercussions.

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassim Mohammed Al-Bedaiwi highlighted the shared desire to enhance historical relations between the GCC countries and Jordan. He emphasized the importance of strategic dialogue and partnership to support stability, development, and mutual interests in Jordan.

The meeting concluded with ministers engaging in extensive dialogue regarding future steps to activate cooperation and enhance coordination, affirming their commitment to fostering enduring ties and addressing regional challenges collectively.
