According to a GFJTU statement, Fanatseh stressed the importance of the joint partnership, which helped implement a slew of projects aimed to enhance the rights and protection of Jordan's various labor groups, especially in areas designed for providing a safe work environment for women, enhancing social protection, and regulating affairs of Syrian workers.

During the meeting held at the GFJTU's headquarters, he said the Federation applies social dialogue and believes in strengthening its tools to address the challenges that affect the labor market.

Fanatseh also valued ILO's support for programs and projects that enhance Jordan's decent work standards, target various labor sectors at the national level and contribute to achieving "sustainable" development and protecting labor rights based on the relevant ILO conventions and recommendations.

Reviewing the key axes of the GFJTU's reform plan that began this year, he said this effort eyes to enhance its role and revamp its structures and frameworks to advance its performance as a national labor umbrella, which defends workers' rights and seeks to represent their interests and enhance economic and social development at the national level.

For her part, Drake expressed ILO's readiness to cooperate with GFJTU to implement joint projects that focus on promoting decent work in Jordan's economic sectors and activities, and increasing membership in the Kingdom's labor unions.
