According to a
statement from the GFJW issued Saturday, the initiative is in the context of
implementing a project dubbed “increasing local access to gender equality in
Jordan”, funded by the European Union and the Danish Centre for Research and
Studies.
The statement said
that the contracts were signed at the GFJW headquarters in the presence of
representatives from the eight associations who were selected after an
impartial, objective evaluation done by a committee whose members included
delegates from the ministries of health and social development, as well as
representatives from the federation.
The eight associations
are geographically distributed across the governorates of Mafraq, Irbid, Ajloun,
Zarqa, and Jerash.
The President of the GFJW
emphasized that the initiative was part of strengthening partnership and
support for local civil society institutions, and emphasized the role of the federation
in building the capacity of local institutions to contribute to sustainable
development and to promote a human rights-based approach.
