The department, he
said, plans to carry out this experiment for two archaeological sites: Umm Qais
and Ajloun Castle.
The project relies
on cooperation, and is based on a partnership model between the government,
educational institutions, and local communities, he added.
Tourists’ demand
change over time; “they are no longer satisfied with only seeing tourist sites,
now they are interested in living different tourist experiences”, he said.
The project aims to
give tourists a better chance to interact with local residents, create new
tourist experiences, give a competitive advantage to sites that are less known,
boost the number of incoming tourists, and provide job opportunities, Balawi
explained.
“This experience targets all tourists, whether domestic or
foreign; it is built on scientific information that suits all ages and all
groups of visitors,” he said.
