They are also expecting the reintroduction of a tax on the
selling price of
kerosene to citizens during May.
Spring season leads to global demand and price hikeFahad Al-Fayez and Hashem Akel, two industry experts, have
suggested that the price of both types of gasoline will rise by around 1.5 piaster
per liter. Fayez stated that this increase can be attributed to the
global increase in demand for gasoline in its various forms and due to the start of spring.
Fayez also adds that this increase will range between 1–2
percent, equivalent to 1–1.5 piasters per liter. In contrast, he expects the
price of diesel to remain stable, although it may decrease by 1–1.5 percent or
1-1.5 piasters.
TaxAdditionally, Fayez expects the tax on the selling price of
gas to citizens to return to its previous rate, with the price of kerosene to change
based on global prices.
On the other hand, Akel expects the price of both
gasoline types to increase by 15 piasters per liter and for the price of diesel to decrease
by 20 piasters per liter.
Akel also predicted that the decision to stabilize the price
of kerosene will be canceled, allowing it to return to its regular price, which
is the same as the price of diesel.
The Cabinet had previously decided to
freeze the taxon the selling price of kerosene to citizens during the winter season to ease
the burden on citizens, especially those with limited income.
This decision was made in accordance with the directives of
His Majesty King Abdullah.
