AMMAN — In a recent statement, Jihad Abu Nasser,
representative of the automobile sector at the
Jordan Free Zone Investor Commission highlighted that there has been a significant decrease in the
clearance of gasoline vehicles during the first half of this year.

This decline can be attributed to the rising popularity of
hybrid vehicles, which have seen an impressive 80 percent increase in
clearances, as well as electric vehicles, which have witnessed a staggering 100
percent surge, Alsaa reported.
Gasoline vehicles dominate automotive industry
Abu Nasser emphasized that despite these growth rates,
electric vehicles only make up a mere 3 percent of the market, while hybrids
hold a 25 percent share. Gasoline vehicles still remain the dominant force in
the automotive industry.
Furthermore, Abu Nasser noted that the prices of
electric vehicles have experienced a notable 15 percent decrease throughout the current
year, primarily due to a global decline in prices.
