Protestors said that the girl was transferred to the hospital and
died due to alleged “medical malpractice”. The body was sent to the National
Institute of Forensic Medicine to determine the girl’s cause of death.
For his part, the director of the hospital, Wasfi Al-Rashdan, said
that doctors conducted surgery on the girl whose condition deteriorated after
the surgery due to complications, according to Al-Ghad.
Rashdan stressed that the hospital was ready to bear the legal and
medical responsibility provided a fair and transparent judgment is issued in
the case, and provided the error occurred due to a deficiency in
infrastructure, medical equipment, or medical staff.
The hospital insisted on sending the body to the coroner to
determine the cause of death, Rashdan added, indicating that “the public
prosecution is currently handling the case and a report will be sent to the
court which will have its final word on the incident.”
