Gov’t allocates JD734M for 94 Economic Vision priorities in 2024

AMMAN — The government anticipates achieving 94 priorities outlined in the executive program for the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) in 2024, out of a total of 514 priorities set for the years 2023-2025.اضافة اعلان

As per a government document monitoring the progress of the executive program, 432 priorities are currently under implementation for 2024, with an additional 78 priorities successfully implemented last year. This cumulative effort is expected to result in the accomplishment of 172 priorities for the past and current years, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

Upon reviewing the priorities, the government introduced 72 new priorities to the executive program, increasing the total from 422 to 514. Notably, the sectors of cybersecurity and social care and protection have been incorporated into the program.

Launched under the Royal Patronage at the end of 2022, the Economic Modernization Vision and the Public Sector Modernization map comprised 183 programs, 380 initiatives, and 418 priorities in the executive program for 2023, with a budget allocation of JD670 million.

For 2024, the government has allocated approximately JD734 million dinars to the Economic Modernization Vision program. This allocation is distributed across the general budget (JD349 million), government units self-financing (JD135 million), and foreign aid (JD250 million).

In the previous year, the government successfully achieved 78 out of 97 expected priorities, with JD670 million allocated, including JD355 million from the general budget and JD165 million from foreign aid. The government introduced the government performance monitoring and electronic achievement system last year to transparently showcase the progress of the Economic Modernization Vision's executive program for the years 2023-2025.

2023 achievements
In the realm of investment, 372 projects benefited from the Investment Environment Law, projecting an investment volume of JD878.5 million. The government launched a comprehensive investment service platform with 95 services implemented within an average of 6.9 working days. The investment map featuring 30 opportunities was also introduced.

To position Jordan as a global destination, the government enhanced connectivity by signing agreements with 5 low-cost airlines, increasing charter flights by 141 percent, introducing electronic visas (77,000 visas granted), and launching a cruise port that received 65 ships.

Various tourism products were introduced, including the Ajloun cable car, the Umm Qais water tunnel, the Christian pilgrimage trail in Makawir, the Petra static balloon, and a diving application in Aqaba. Additionally, film studios (Olivewood) opened, and heritage sites were promoted for filming.

In the domain of future services, the government achieved 45 percent digitization of government services (1,077 services), activated 771,000 digital identities, launched fifth-generation services in four governorates, and saw a significant increase in digital payments via the instant payment system (JoMoPay) and financial transactions through (CliQ).

In the high-value industries sector, the government supported 395 economic establishments through the Industry Support Fund, aided 180 establishments through export stimulation programs and advisory services, and launched an electronic platform for investment opportunities in the mining sector.
For leadership and innovation, maintenance and rehabilitation of school buildings were completed, Internet service was provided to 97 percent of government schools, and vocational and technical education was improved through the adoption of the BTEC system and the development of training institutes.

The National Employment Program (Tashgeel) supported the employment of 19,000 job seekers in the private sector, including approximately 10,000 females and 1,200 beneficiaries of the National Aid Fund.

In the quality of life domain, health services were expanded by maintaining and expanding 35 health centers, operating 7 new health centers, training and qualifying over 2,600 medical staff, and computerizing 190 hospitals, health centers, and clinics.

Public transportation services were improved by completing phases of the rapid frequency bus (BRT) project between Amman and Zarqa, along with preliminary studies for the new city project.

In the pursuit of a sustainable environment, policies and programs were completed to stimulate the transition to a green economy, legislation was developed to encourage waste recycling projects, and 110 factories were supported through the GAIN project to enhance green activities in industrial facilities.

Lastly, in sustainable resources, projects were implemented to improve water supply, including the growth of 7.8 million cubic meters. Development initiatives were initiated in the Hamza and Risha fields to increase production capacity, and smart electric meters were installed, covering 35 percent of electricity service subscribers.
