Gov’t calls on local firms to rectify legal status of foreign workers

AMMAN — The Ministry of Labor on Monday called on private-sector company owners to rectify the legal status of foreign workers in their employ as soon as possible.اضافة اعلان

Labor Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Zyoud said that “the ministry’s teams will conduct inspections across all economic sectors and activities across the Kingdom in order to arrest any violating foreigners as of tomorrow, Tuesday.”

Violators include foreign workers who have not rectified their legal status since the ministry’s July 4 decision to implement a grace period, in line with the government’s efforts to organize the job market, Zyoud said.

The spokesperson also stressed that this decision aims to reduce the financial burden on employers in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the disruptions it has caused on the economy.
