AMMAN — The government has responded
to questions submitted by lawmaker Safaa Al-Momani regarding the water usage at
the Rum Agricultural Co. at
Wadi Rum in addition to an underground artesian
well belonging to the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi
Mohammed bin Zayed, according
to Al-Ghad News.

The government confirmed that all the wells
are licensed, and water quantities are monitored through meter tracking and readings
that cover Rum Agricultural Co. They added that the underground wells belonging
to the company were 21 functioning wells, while the Crown Prince of
Abu Dhabi
had six operational wells out of five.
The government said that the amount of water
extracted from wells (belonging to Rum Agricultural Co.) had reached 22.8
million cubic meters last year, while the amount of water extracted from wells
belonging to the UAE Crown Prince was 2.4 million cubic meters by last year.
The government did not answer all the
lawmaker’s questions, according to Al-Ghad News.
