The discounts range from 10 to 25 percent, depending on the classification of the property, residential, commercial, etc., and payment method (online or cash). The government also said it will write off fines incurred as a result of delayed payment of property tax for years if the value of the original tax is paid before June 30, 2022.

Law-abiding taxpayers will also have access to such discounts at their next tax payment in 2023. Also, tenants of property owned by municipalities and the Greater Amman Municipality are offered a 25 percent discount on unpaid rents if they pay off rent arrears by June 30, 2022.

In Wednesday’s meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the Cabinet okayed an agreement between the Ministry of Health and Pfizer to supply a COVID-19 drug at the cost of $2 million. The drug will help treat 8,000 patients, according to a Prime Minister’s office statement.
