Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply,
Yousef Al-Shamali, reaffirmed the availability of all
essential goods, especially during Ramadan, in the local market, Al-Mamlaka TV
reported.

During an inspection of commodity storage warehouses in
Al-Jweideh, Minister Shamali emphasized that commodity prices will remain
stable without any increases, even if there are global price fluctuations due
to rising shipping costs and events in the Red Sea. Shamali also instructed
market inspectors in the Kingdom to intensify surveillance of markets, monitor
prices, and use legal powers to prevent excessive pricing.
The government has taken several measures to address
potential inflationary pressures due to the
Gaza war and
Red Sea disturbances,
as well as preparations for Ramadan. These measures aim to preserve food
stocks, ensure regular supply chains, stabilize prices, and regulate the
market, especially before and during Ramadan, while mitigating inflationary pressures.
These measures include setting price ceilings for containers
to estimate and calculate customs duties for cost reduction. This is based on
private sector requests to maintain prices at pre-
October 7 levels.
Additionally, procedures for clearing goods, especially food items, have been
expedited.
As part of these efforts, the
Jordan Silos and Supply General Company (
Josilos) continues to implement Cabinet directives by allowing
the private sector to store food commodities in the company’s facilities at
prices below market rates by approximately 40 percent.
The government has also instructed civilian and military
consumer institutions to enhance food stockpiles across various commodities and
maintain their prices in their respective markets until the end of Ramadan.
Furthermore, the export of essential food items such as
sugar, rice, and vegetable oils has been prohibited to safeguard local market
supplies. Certain procedural requirements for importing food items have also
been suspended to ensure their continued availability in the local market,
including meat products.
In addition, the Director General of the
Civil Service Consumer Corporation (
JCSCC), Salman Al-Qudah, stated that the institution is committed
to implementing government directives. They have increased the stock percentage
of essential goods by over 30 percent, and prices for selling these goods will
remain stable, regardless of any new purchase prices. The government’s support
will cover any price differences.
Qudah affirmed the corporation’s readiness to provide goods
that are in high demand during Ramadan. These items will be available in the
corporation’s markets starting next week, coinciding with the approach of
Ramadan.
He clarified that maintaining the current prices of goods
does not mean they will increase after Ramadan ends. The Civil Service Consumer
Corporation, with government support, will continue to keep prices stable,
alleviating the burden on citizens and consumers.
