AMMAN — During a Cabinet meeting
chaired by
Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh on Sunday, the government
suspended the recruitment of non-Jordanian workers with the
exception of domestic laborers, certain individuals with specialized skills, and workers in
the
clothing and textile sector, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The
Cabinet also approved measures to facilitate the transfer of non-Jordanian workers into certain economic sectors
and activities in order to regulate the Kingdom's labor market and reduce the
number of illegal workers.
Deadline and details
The
government set a three-month deadline for implementing these procedures, and stipulated that the situation be
re-assessed at the end of this period.
In the coming days, the
Ministry of Labor will publish details on steps to implement the decision and circulate them to
its directorates across the Kingdom.
The
decision is based on provisions of Article 12 of the Labor Law and amendments made to it regarding instructions on
conditions and procedures for the recruitment and employment of non-Jordanian
workers.
