The spokesperson for the Ministry of Labor, Mohammad Al-Zyoud, said on Monday that more than 3,000 individuals of various nationalities have been deported recently for violating labor laws, as part of an intensive inspection campaign that began at the start of this year.

Speaking to Al-Mamlaka TV, Al-Zyoud stressed that regulating the labor market, including non-Jordanian (migrant) workers, falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Labor. He noted that the current government does not see the need for what is known as a “status correction campaign,” which includes exemption from work permit fees.
He explained that the status correction campaign launched in 2021 revealed a large number of migrant workers who failed to regularize their legal status according to the law. Any adjustments or policy changes regarding migrant labor, he said, are based on requests from employers across various sectors.
Al-Zyoud pointed out that 54,000 migrant workers have not rectified their status or obtained valid work permits since 2021.
He added that these figures continue to change, as many workers have been deported or left the country voluntarily to avoid complying with the legal requirements. Some have regularized their status through their employers in different sectors, in accordance with the law.
Al-Zyoud emphasized that the Ministry rejects employers’ requests to exempt violating workers from fines, stating that the purpose of all these measures is to organize the labor market and ensure that all workers in the Kingdom comply with the law.
He concluded by noting that inspection campaigns are ongoing to monitor migrant labor and verify the legality of their employment status.
